Basic question....
« on: February 04, 2021, 01:39:52 PM »
Are these both Washington arsenal bullets? I know the star is however the other appears to be more of an Asterix that a star. Can someone explain this to me ?

There are at least 4 different star cavity bases I know of.  3 are stars of varying sizes and one is the asterisk type star you show.  I have always assumed they were all Washington Arsenal types, but maybe Jim Thomas can weigh in after he finishes the General Tso's chicken he was picking up when I talked to him earlier.  ;D

Im not a lead head, I pretty much stay on the iron side where the macho men are, lol I'm kidding. Anyway I'm curious as why the Washington Arsenal would have varying types of star markings.
It's not always "Survival of the fitest" sometimes the idiots get through.

Thanks for your response! I figured it was probably just a variant.

Dies wear out.  So they could just be variations.  Or they could be from different bullet presses; and the different stars are to identify which press each came from for QA purposes.
