Title: Girardey fuse in flintlock hammer
Post by: Steve Phillips on February 27, 2022, 01:56:07 PM
This is eye candy for artillery collectors.
Many years ago I found this relic while diving in the Alabama River at Selma.
What it is, is a flintlock hammer from a rifle that has a Girardey fuse where the flint should go. Selma had all types of old gun parts from guns they were updating for the Confederacy to use. They also made just about everything including Girardey fuses. I also show some examples of Girardey fuses from Selma. I?m sure people will have opinions of why the fuse is in the hammer but what you should understand is the bottom of an active river is a huge mixing pot. Everything is tumbled and I think the fuse just ended up in the flint slot.

That is super neat.   There is an amazing variety of stuff you've gotten from there.
