Title: Joslyn Carbine Bullet

Here's what I believe is a Joslyn Carbine bullet I found in the Vicksburg, MS area over the weekend and wanted to post it up to get feedback on it.
I had never heard or seen one of these before I dug one.
My understanding is that some of these have been dug in the Shiloh, TN area.
Mine appears to have been fitted with a combustible paper cartridge. Is this correct for this variety?

I believe the combustible paper cartridge is correct for the carbine bullet that is called a "Joslyn."   In your picture, I cannot see the second, upper band of the Joslyn on this one, but some are less distinct than others.

This bullet is indeed a Josyln...However, it is NOT a carbine bullet.. this is actually a .44 calibre Joslyn revolver bullet.
From what I've read, there were only 3,000 of these revolvers made.
This bullet appears to be very very rare.
Does ANYONE have additional information on this REVOLVER bullet to a .44 calibre Josyln?

However this is not a Joslyn revolver bullet. Looks like a regular Colt bullet to me.

I don't have the Roundball to Rimfire book...Can you sent me a photo of what you're seeing? My bullet doesn't look like a Colt. It's identical to the Josyln bullets I've seen online. If mine isn't a Josyln, can you send me a picture of what a Josyln looks like?

Seeing as Jim T's brother is the author of that book and Jim worked for the publisher when it came out, I don't think we're going to be posting a copyrighted picture from the book here.  I did look at the .44 Joslyn in the book that Jim references, and it looks more like a bigger version of a Smith and Wesson bullet.  So, it doesn't look anything like this bullet posted above.  I hope that helps a little.

I have attached a pic of a "new model" Colt revolver bullet and a Joslyn bullet.  Depending on how tall your bullet is, it could be the "old model" Colt (aka Colt dragoon) which was taller.
