Even as familiar as I am with Dean's collection it is most impressive to examine it all out at once.  A great quantity of the usual stuff, many more uncommon pieces, and quite a few items you'll see nowhere else.  Several things I never knew he had...or that specimens even existed.

I saw a few things I need, but happily not nearly as many as I feared.  It will be a huge task to price all these, so have patience.  We printed out all the emails from those interested.  You will be updated on the progress of the sale as soon as we can get a handle on this.  For those that sent specific want lists...remember this is only the Yankee stuff that is for sale.

We are nearly finished bagging all the lots.  ;D

Almost every bullet, cartridge, packet, mould, etc that appears in the 4 volumes of "Round Ball to Rimfire" and the 3 volumes of "Confederate Arsenals, Laboratories, and Ordnance Depots" will be available at this auction.  Guns and artillery shells too...he said quietly under his breath.... ::)

You can have the exact pieces illustrated in those books for your own collection!  From the most common, to the rarest of the rare!  Keep an eye on Reddings webpage ( http://reddingauction.com/ ) because the fully illustrated catalog of items will be up very soon.

Do you you know how the sale will be broken down between Friday and Saturday?

I am slowly budgeting some $$ aside for this and hopefully will make it there on Saturday.

Wes, bids can be placed by phone before or during the auction.

Roy, the items will follow the "Round Ball to Rimfire" books with some misc stuff mixed in here and there.  So, Northern stuff first then the CS stuff.  I think they hope to do 450 lots on Friday then the remainder on Saturday.  The other collections of weapons and shells will be mixed in throughout both days.

I know the feeling Wes.....3 of my 4 kids are currently in college.  I did get a very few pieces out of Dean's stuff while going through it all, but I still have a list of things I'm going to keep my eye on during the auction.  It's going to be a very long auction and folks aren't always paying attention.  There are some very cool variants mixed in among the common-bullet lots.  There will be 900 lots of bullets/cartridges/etc, maybe 150 guns and swords, and 40+ shells mixed in...so a busy 2-day auction indeed!  PLUS the cannon and hut...almost forgot them.  ::)
