Civil War relic??
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:43:30 AM »
Hello everyone.  New guy here.

I found this while walking a dry creek bed in Wilson County Tennessee. I found two and threw the first one down and then when I found the second one ten minutes later started wondering if this could be some type of ordinance from the Civil War. Looks like a primer end and shell casing. The pen is to give size reference.

Anyone know? Did I just find some old farm or other junk? Any suggestions or theories are appreciated.

I don't believe it is from a projectile or fuze.   It sort of looks like an old dry cell barrtery.

Thanks for the input guys.  That is about right for me, bringing home rusty junk!  I guess you never know.
