These photos and above are a CS 3.25 Dahlgren shell my nephew found at Selma about 30 years ago. As far as I can find out only two known. I helped Tom Dickey get the first one. It was a drop found at Port Hudson with a perfect dropped CS James bolt. I got the James and Tom put both in his book. Tom had me do the buying because he did not want the owner to know who was interested. Anytime Tom wanted something he had to ask prices on several items and not let owners know what he really wanted or the price went through the roof. We paid $500.00 for each projectile which doesn't sound like much now but remember at that time, 40 years ago we could buy a complete Hotchkiss or Parrot for $10.00. A Yankee belt buckle was 8 to 10 dollars.
