Description:This is the standard brass fuse adapter used in Hotchkiss shells. For the first half of the war, both case and common shells made by Hotchkiss had took fuses with the same diameter. Because of the design of Hotchkiss case shot shells, this type of fuse didn't work well in case shot shells. It wasn't intended for them, but would screw in so errors happened. As the war progressed, the diameter of the fuse adapters for the common shells, was made smaller so these mistakes couldn't happen.
