3.4in Dahlgren blind shell. These have a brass rivet in the nose and were filled with black sand, not powder. This one threw its sabot when it was fired.

This shell was sold in lot #2313 at James D. Julia's auction of the Michael Adamson collection on October 4, 2005. It went for $400 then plus the auction house's 25% buyer premium fee plus sales tax. So, it hasn't really appreciated much in 20 years, but its still a cool shell with a neat history.
