Description:One of my favorite shells, this is a 4.2 inch caliber Parrott shell for the 30 pounder Parrott gun. These were very effective work horses of the war and are found on many battlefields.

The condition of this shell is much better than the images show. The iron is very good. I can re-coat the shell to remove many of the coating scuffs if desired. I should have done this before taking the pictures. The powder cavity is clean inside. The sabot is the Parrott Type-II brass band. It appears to have very faint rifling on it to me but it may well be an unfired shell. The fuse is the Parrott zinc time adapter with the later war lip/flange design. It is in excellent condition with great patina. The fuse easily screws out. This is a really great example of a shell everyone should have in their collection.

Shell is inert, cleaned and coated.
