Description:The three shells that everyone seems to want are the James, Archers and Whitworth shells. Here is a Whitworth with great provenance. This solid shot was recovered off the coast of NC from the 1862 sunken blockade runner Modern Greece. More info can be found at:

The ship was believed to be carrying 4 of the much cherished 12 pounder Whitworth guns along with ammunition. In the 1960's divers recovered artifacts off the boat including a number of these bolts.
This bolt is one of the better looking ones I've seen from that shipwreck. It has be well conserved and there is no danger of further deterioration. On two sides the flats are in decent shape. The projectile does stand on end though at a slight 'Leaning Tower of Piza' look.
This is a chance to own a Whitworth bolt at half the price of one with complete iron.
Projectiles is inert, cleaned and coated.
