Description:This shell came out of an old collection and is in fine shape. You can tell it is an early dig as the iron is very smooth and it is coated in the old varnish that yellowed with time. This shell has the CS thin iron sabot fully intact showing the 3 lands-n-grooves of the Parrott rifle. It is in very good shape. The body of the shell is nice and smooth. The base has a very big lathe dimple which is only seen on the CS Parrotts. The base also is the type that shows the square vent hole. The shell was fitted with a wood adapter. I didn't clean out the fuse hole in case some of the wood was still present. I can clean that out if the buyer would like.
This is a real nice Confederate shell to pick up at a real good price.
Shell is inert, cleaned and (old) coated.
