12 little Indians (aka Archers)
« on: January 18, 2013, 12:34:31 PM »
Trying some new technology here from the camera on my phone so not very sophisticated, but someone was asking about the Archers I had in my collection yesterday so I thought I'd share this.  Got a cold so sound like I am in a tin can.  Click on the image below to see a video:

Thanks guys, but it was a one take wonder and some of the info should be clarified.

The one I said was a 3.25" is just slightly over 3" at the sabot, but slightly under at the iron so probably a 3", not a 3.25"  Still odd though in that it has that small fuse hole.

The third to last is the one that is an odd size because it measures at just over 3.3" so must be for a rifled 4pdr at 3.4"  Thats the weird size as the ones with this profile have all been classified 3.3" heretofore.  The next one that looks like it but with a flame groove and without a sabot is 3.3" and was found in "West" Virginia.  The "West" part is indecipherable in the video because of my cold.  I also have a "naturally" blown in half one of those from Allegheny, WV.

I really like the Archers and am always on the lookout for the ones I don't yet have in my collection.  They are very difficult to find.

Very nice Mike. I'd enjoy seeing more of your collection when you get time.
