Interesting .69 with small cavity...
« on: March 16, 2011, 02:56:24 AM »
Does anyone else have a .69 three groove bullet with a base like this. This one has  a flat base with a small pointed conical cavity in the center with a small air hole at the tip. A few of these were found together. This is a fired example but measures D .679  L 1.017  C .159.

Looks like something made for a Tige rifle.

As if a normal .69 wasn't heavy enough, this would probably knock a house down!  It must have taken nearly the amount of powder to fire it as used in a small cannon.  Thanks for posting but now I'll have to check the bottom of every 3-ringer .69 caliber I see.
Best,
Carl
