Baby Hawg, MM-375, and Arkansas Hawg
« on: January 15, 2011, 04:05:09 AM »
Okay gang,

I am gonna start the bullet section of this forum out with a bang. I have felt the MM-453 (54 caliber), Texas Minie (58 caliber, dug in Shiloh (Stan H.) and a few in Arkansas) is the MM-452 and the Stelma 09-063/09-064 Tyler Texas being the large caliber with these bullets the same in the 3 standard calibers. Okay here we go, the Baby Hawg (54 Caliber), MM-375 (.577 caliber), and the Arkansas Hawg the 69 caliber all being the same bullet. The interesting part of this thought process is the MM-453 is dug in numerous areas with the other two dug in the Trans-Mississippi. The MM-375 being dug in other theaters and the Baby Hawg and Hawg dug in Arkansas/Lousiana. Well everyone can tee up and take a shot at me on this one, but with the profiles of the bullets I feel it is more than probable and are the same for each group of bullets. Can't prove it, but you can't change my mind either. :o

Someone should ask Brian Riehl for better pictures and measurements of the MM452 because I believe he has Reid McKee's collection from which that bullet was photographed for M&M

ETEX, Emike,

I think the MM 452 54-caliber, the MM 453 577/58-caliber are not related to the Arkanasas Hawg bullet family.

This family the MM 452 & Mm 453 were called "sharpshooter bullets" and renamed "Texas Troop" bullets with a 69-caliber bullet SCWB2-09-037 being added to the family as they have been found in and around Texas Troop camps or positions.

I am not 100% certain but I trust some of the diggers who have found the bullets.

This is just a humble opinion subject to those who are more familiar with the bullets found in Arkansas.

Tom,

I don't believe the Arkansas Hawg is related to the MM-452, MM-453, and the 69/70 Caliber that has the same profile. I am comparing the Baby Hawg, MM-375, and the Hawg as being in the same group or family and appearing in the 3 three different calibers. I feel they fall into the same situation as the MM-452, 453, and Texas Troops bullet as a family or group of the same bullet.
