It's a cannister shell for a Parrot cannon with a turned sabot.

Very nicely done.  What did you fill it with (if anything)?
Best,
Carl

It is filled with large steel washers almost the diameter of the shell and saw dust to bring it up to the proper weight. If I could have found a roundball mold for 69 caliber, I would have filled it with that.

Nice job Darrell.  Your lathe work is excellent -- please sign the bottom or something on your repros so they don't get mistaken for the real deal 50 years down the line.

Did you ever turn the Parrott tube you were thinking of doing?

I'm in the middle of doing a 1/4 scale one. Have the breach end done and have the barrel about 90% ready to attach. I'll just have the pieces where it attaches to the carriage. Still looking for drawings of a carriage so I can make one for it then when I find the wood to do a full scale one, I'll build one for it.

It is signed on the base so it doesn't get mistakened for a real one unless they change out the sabot.

Look forward to seeing the tube.

I thought you got yourself a set of drawings for the carriage.

Carl and I have a good friend who can set you up there if not.

I never found one Mike. I'd appreciate any drawings I can get. Thanks.
