Cannon Sizes
« on: February 19, 2012, 11:03:56 AM »
I have the charts for cannon sizes, so am aware of whats standard for the US and Britain.  Questions. After reading the Blakely articals, were any smooth bore cannon made, imported, or rebored due to wear that fired a round ball of different sizes than the cannon charts show as standard? The Blakely artical is primarily focused on rifled projectiles, but isn't always clear if its a tube for a shell or round ball, and there are some odd sizes mention. Pete had referenced some odd sizes (3.75" I think) possible rebores in other posts, but for rifled.

anyway anyone know of odd size smoothbores
anyone know of a foreign cannon bore charts, possibly for prewar or Rev, as I keep running into references of some odd size's in other countries cannon  Thanks
