What is it?

Would like your help with an ID.
This was dug in a camp at Port Hudson used by both US and CS troops.
It is all brass. The ribbed end is slightly concave like a ramrod. The opposite
end is open and filled with what looks to be the remains of wood.
I have photographed it next to an Enfield ramrod.

Appears to be some sort of end to a ramrod, but what weapon?

Just a wild guess but, it may be the tip from a shotgun ramrod.

The ribbed end is approx .32 cal, while the larger open end is approx .37 cal.
The property has yielded many calibers and types up to .70 cal Tower.
I felt that it was probably a shotgun or single shot pistol.
