Weekend acquisitions
« on: December 05, 2011, 02:24:06 PM »
Picked up two good bullets over the weekend.   ;D

I went digging around Petersburg, VA, over the weekend and one of my friends found the fired Whitworth (about 50 feet from me), but he relented and gave it to me by the end of the weekend.

The Tennessee Rifle bullet was acquired for me at the Franklin relic show this weekend.... Thanks Steve!

The last minie is just there for size comparisons.  Not a bad weekend.

Nice.

Franklin was fun, but we missed you and Dean at Sportsman's this year.  It was me, Carl and Jim Scarr for dinner and nobody assumed Dean's place ordering fried balogna sandwiches.

I'd say Franklin was a lot like the Richmond Show a couple weeks back -- a good amount of nice stuff, but not too many bargains.  Seems nice things are coming out of the woodwork nowadays, but folks aren't so desperate or ill informed as to give them away.  I'll try to post some of the acquisitions I got later this week, but right now I am backed up from having goofed off for 3 days.

Jim, please post a photo showing the cavities of those three bullets ...and tell us what T&T call those cavity-shapes.

Also, do you have any additional info about that particular CS nose-cast minie?  Is it a "Spillman Pattern," or a Lynchburg Arsenal type, or some of kind?

Regards,
Pete

Jim, great looking Teeny Mini what does the bullet mic out to be. Looks to be in the .38 diameter size.

All have nice cone cavities.  The Tenn. rifle ball is .410.

Is that cute little Tennessee Rifle bullet from Arkansas?
