Could be about anything, but the USS Montauk was not at Port Hudson, did not carry a 2.9" Parrott rifle and that item isn't a Parrott projectile.

Interesting but...
  • I don't think there were any Monitors's on the Mississippi above New Orleans.
  • Not a ball but looks shaped like a proof shot.  No need for proof shot on the battlefield.
  • Looks heavily graphitized like it came from the marsh.   Port Hudson has some acid issues from industry in the area that have made the stuff less slick in recent years but this seems too bad for there.
