Cancelled Civil War Shows
« on: March 15, 2020, 01:51:55 PM »
As many may have heard the Baltimore Show was cancelled about a week ago.  We got word today that the Mansfield Show has also been cancelled.   Driven by the Ohio Governor's order for no public gatherings over 100 people.  Don't forget to cancel any reservations you might have had.  Really stinks but I feel it is the right thing to be safe.  A bunch of us fall into that "over 60" category.

For more information on Mansfield, see:
     https://ohiocivilwarshow.com

CURRENTLY (as of 4/19/2020):
  • Baltimore
  • Corinth
  • Fredericksburg
  • Wheaton
  • Port Hudson
  • Mansfield
  • Brandon
  • Gettysburg (summer edition)

I checked with the Fredericksburg Show admins on Saturday and just heard back that the Fredericksburg Show has also been cancelled.  They said they were going to start contacting the table holders today.

Just heard from Ronnie that the new Port Hudson Show was cancelled yesterday.  I suspect this list will grow every week.

Yes we should start a pool on when the first show happens.  I’m thinking Marietta.    Could be July Richmond or Chattanooga.

I love your optimism, Carl.  I think there may be a difference between when some shows open and when a population of mostly older men want to congregate in relatively close proximity for roughly two days.  Show promoters may have an incentive to push things, but as much as I love the camaraderie of shows I do not think I am alone in saying that I personally am not going to any mass gatherings of our higher risk population until there is a good treatment or an administered vaccine.

This consensus will determine when we have fully viable shows going on again.  I do not see the path to it yet, but know it will happen eventually and can't wait.

I am often accused of being overly optimistic.  But maybe it'll be so.  If i had to bet it would be for Marietta.

I couldn't agree more about the vaccine along with hospitals with capacity and rested care givers.
Best,
Carl
