Shalers
« on: November 06, 2016, 08:40:07 AM »
During a large organized dig in Virginia this past weekend, one guy got a great signal. After about two days of digging he uncovered somewhere around 900 complete Shaler bullets in the one hole. Very interesting to hear of a "crate" of Shalers.  I will post photos as they become available.

I heard about this awesome find at DIV CCVXX or whatever the # is now.  I am not surprised a crate was dumped considering how ineffective they were.  I wonder how the different types were mixed together.

Very neat find.  Would be a great day to find a hole full of bullets but for them to be something as uncommon as this would be an incredibly great day.  If I found a cache I don't think I could break it up.  But even at $10 each that's a $9000 windfall for someone so I can understand that money might be of more value to someone.

Pretty crazy find. I was down the hillside from where they were found. Not sure what the troops did with the shalers but the area was littered with bottom and middle sections but tops were a bit more difficult to locate. Aside from the crate, very few were found intact.

905 Shalers was the total from the one hole. Here they are.

Looks like another good article for North South Traders magazine, similar to the Wishing Well find.
