Book "Encyclopedia of Blackpowder Artillery Projectiles..."
« on: January 26, 2016, 11:41:48 AM »
By John Biemeck.

Has anyone purchased this book or looked at it enough to judge how accurate it is and how well-sourced?  Sounds interesting but some books I've bought lately just aren't accurate so I'm being more careful now.

I think it is very accurate and well-sourced.  I understand what you are talking about regarding some other books, but this one is a good reference piece.  It is something akin to an encyclopedia, though, so not an easy reading page turner, but a strong addition to the serious practitioner's library.

To chime in with another positive vote I was blown away with all the technical detail the Volume 2 book has.  As Mike indicated it is not a picture book but a high level technical reference.  In my opinion every police force that might encounter black powder ordnance and other ordnance groups should have one.   I am very much looking forward to the Volume 3 release.
Best,
Carl

Any word on when Jack M's book on artillery will be coming out?

Jack's book on section4d projectiles is at the editor.  Not sure when he will publish it.

Got mine at Mansfield.  Super book as expected. Very well researched informative book. Looked at it some at the show but looking forward to finding the time to dig deep into it. I highly recommend for any serious collector of CS artillery projectiles.

Excellent reference book.  Very comprehensive.  Definitely not light fireside reading!
