I have been to many of those battlefields and decided not to walk in the fenced off areas.  They use sheep to cut the grass in the parks as the sheep will not pull up anything metal in contrast to a lawn mower where the blades may catch hold of metal that has been forced up from the soil.  Every year some farmers get killed while plowing their fields.  Some very dangerous battlefields.
