projectile?

I acquired this projectile at an auction, but I cannot find any information about it on the web.  Thought y'all might be able to help me.

Sir,
     Yes it is a fired projectile WWII vintage.  It is an armor piercing projectile with its 'windshield' missing.
the base hole is for a tracer element (missing). Apparently a solid shot.
