My advice is to save your money. If you want a real one for a few hundred more, drop me a line and I'll connect you to someone who has a couple righteous ones. There are a few bad signs about this one, and if one gives off any hints of uncertainty, I suggest you wait for one you can feel solid about.

ok, I wasn't sure. Confederate plates is where I need to get more knowledge
-
Yeah, eBay not the place to buy Confederate plates. Agreed, pay some extra from a legit dealer and sleep well at night.
-
I wasn't gonna buy it I just wanted to see if yall thought it was real

Confederate plates seems to be one of the most counterfeit item in Civil War collecting. Since I own zero Confederate belt plates I wouldn't know where to begin. I agree with the others, tread carefully when purchasing one. Wasn't it pointed out that even Steve Mullinax was fooled? Considering what a prolific digger he was and the sheer amount of relics he handled that doesn't bode well for novices like myself.

Inspired by this thread no doubt, I acquired this one last week right before a certain someone on this forum took me up on the offer above and Hoovered up two others from the same source!

Very nice Mike!!!

I like that beltplate and belt. Bill Gavin made the case a number of years ago to call this style the ‘Tennessee Slim’. Has that stood up over time?
-
Some people do call these the "Tennessee Slim" type, but because they are called the "Virginia Style" in Mullinax that name is also used.
-
EMIKE That is a beautiful belt and plate.

Sweet!
