Title: Dr. Lawrence E. Pawl
Post by: CarlS on June 09, 2020, 01:29:06 PM
Dr. Pawl who co-wrote the artillery book with Jack Melton passed away today of congestive heart failure.  A collector of many things, Dr. Pawl at one time had an incredible James shell collection along with a good bit of other artillery.  That contrasted with his major space relic collection he also put together.

I'll update with more info when I have it.

Dr. Pawl was a true gentleman who always had time for a rookie collector with a lot of questions. He will be missed. Rest in Peace Sir.

I always liked him.  I have several James projectiles and other artillery pieces that were his at one time -- some are the ones in the book.  When he finally got around to unwinding his collection he was very generous in adding his pieces to my collection.  Maybe I'll post some pics in his honor later.

He also collected Stickley furniture, but I think the space material was his magnum opus.

Sad news.

I only knew him by his reputation.   Be at peace.
