Title: Can you determine pistol by number of rifle grooves on the bullet?
Post by: Ripcon on May 26, 2020, 11:47:25 AM
I dug this pistol bullet over the Memorial Day weekend in Vicksburg, MS and I'm curious what kind of gun would've fired it?
It appears to be a .44 calibre cap and ball with 7 rifling grooves.
It's dug but you can see the mold seam on one end of the bullet and the rammer impression on the other end.
I love this bullet!
I would love to know what kind of gun fired this bullet. Is this possible with counting the rifling grooves?
