I think this is an Arrick shell because it has the bolt in the base:

I had this at the Marietta Show with an unusual fuse in it, but couldn't get anyone very interested in it. Once I got it out, it is unlike any other fuse I have seen so presumably is post Civil War:

It is 2" long and 1.0365" diameter at the threads and 12tpi so basically the same size as a Hotchkiss percussion fuse.

I have both a shell and a bolt of this style, was told that they were end-of-war/postwar unfired, they were referred to as Staffords/Arricks/Eurekas and that they were designed to take a Hotchkiss style fuse. Also, they were sold by Bannerman's. I also have an identical shell but without the bolt and have been told that it is a Stafford/Arrick/Eureka, so I'm not really sure what they are.

Mike it is a Eureka shell made by Clarence Arrick. It is post war anvdk the fuze is a Frankfort Arsenal percussion fuze.
Kind Regards,
John
