First one of these I've ever seen. A "1-ring" Gardner, complete cartridge. Some expansion of the crimped portion caused by corrosion but overall a decent cartridge. Dean believes these were developed for breechloading carbines like the Sharps early in the war...they seem light compared to musket bullets. Unfortunately it was in a local shop priced extremely too cheap and it slipped right thru my fingers... my usual story, "a day late and a dollar short."
