MM-311/312-RBTRF IV 162/165
« on: March 24, 2012, 01:24:12 PM »
Jim, Part 4 list bullets 162/165 as the Tennessee Rifle and it is difficult to determine if these are the same bullet with just either a bad spot on the nose are if it is two different bullet varities. I believe these two bullets are the counter parts listed as the MM-311/312 unknown carbine. I believe the MM-311 and 312 to be the same bullet with cavity misidentification by the MM. The MM-311 I have in my collection measures at .503 x .859 x 327 with a conical cavity. Clarification or comments would be appreciated not only from Jim but any and all forum members. I am not attempting to split hairs with these bullets but trying to narrow down the MM-302/303 and the MM-311/312 for identification purposes. I believe the MM-302/303 are different bullets with the MM-311/312 being the same bullet.

#162 and 165 look to be basically the same bullet.  I don't know where 162 came from, but I can see that I inserted the pic later (into the group shot).  Dean probably just put it in since the rings appear different.

These things are like collecting Enfields and Dimmicks....a zillion variations.

Jim, thanks for the response and clarification. That was my thoughts on the 162/165 but wanted to bounce the question off of yall.

A very good example of the variations of the same bullet that may be referenced as a single bullet in the MM are the RBTRF IV Bullets 241 through 245 (MM-453 Sharpshooter). All are the same bullet (except 242) and show variations in sizes and charateristics associated to one bullet.

Jim, not JA3R, the 241-245 are fantastic CS 3 Ringers  :)
