.44 Colt Revolving Rifle Bullet T&T #59
« on: November 27, 2015, 07:14:42 PM »
I found this bullet today in an area where a lot of Confederate bullets have been found.  Do I have it ID'd correctly as a .44 Colt Revolving Rifle bullet T&T #59?  .454  inches width and .7895 in height.  Thanks for the help.  -Jeremy

Jeremy,
It is definitely a CS-made .44 cal. "Colt."  However, this is one of those bullets that saw many uses.  This same bullet could have been used for the Colt Rev. Rifle as well as for all .44 revolvers.  The difference is in the cartridge, not with the bullet in this case.

A good recovery regardless of how you want to label it.

Jim,
Thanks so much for the reply.  Interesting to know about the dual use in rifles and revolvers but that makes perfect sense.  This was the first one of these I have found so I was pretty excited about it.  Thanks again.
