.44 Sage bullets
« on: June 14, 2011, 01:32:35 PM »
Can anyone tell me anything about .44 Sage bullets?  What guns were they used in?  Any data on what units may have used them?  Dates?  Etc.

Hi Redstone,
The .44 Sage would have been used in the .44 Colt and Remington revolvers.

Sage sold over 3  million .44 cal. cartridges to the Ordnance Department from mid-1863 until September 1864.

A detailed set of articles on Sage can be found in the Sept-Dec 1996 issues of "The Gun Report."
