Anyone have a period photo they'd like to post for us all to converse over ?? The last one with the stands of grape, the armless officer, the attached sabot's and the musician's sword was all found through thorough examination. I learned a lot........

Swamp Angel? No eardrums left! I have never read how many of the gun crew were killed in this in-bore explosion.

I gather this was a shell bursting as it left or was still in the muzzle ?? It wasn't hit by an incoming shell, was it ?? Looking at the photo, I bet the cannon could still be used, a little chipping here and there with a cold chisel........... also, look at the standing proud blade sight on the trunion.... she's ready to go !!
