Title: Marshall, Texas Reads
Post by: emike123 on February 19, 2024, 08:58:15 AM
A friend was asking me about a 3.3in Marshall, Texas Read I had so I got to looking at my little group of these uncommon shells.  I have 2 different 3in ones:  The one from Poison Springs has a copper sabot that goes across the bottom completely and the other one has a copper ring sabot with the iron base showing on the bottom.  There's the 3.3in on the left.

The fat one second from the right is a 3.8" which is not listed in any books.  These were for captured James rifles and dumped on the Jenkins Ferry retreat.  I only know of 2 of them, both from the same recovery area.  Unfortunately, I don't have either the 2.25" or 3.5in types shown in D&G.

Been meaning to post some eye candy here for a year or two and am finally getting around to it!
