Help Identify a couple of Port Hudson Minies
« on: February 22, 2012, 03:00:19 PM »
Have been watching the Forum for a long time and thought it was time I got y'all to help me identify a couple of Port Hudson minies.

This is a 58 cal one ring minie with a deep ellipsoidal cavity.  It mics at .579 diameter and .887 length.  Have seen 4 or 5 of these dug at Confederate campsites at Port Hudson.  Would appreciate any help.   Ronnie

The bullet does resemble the Cleburne but like you said Wes the Cleburne is a 54 Caliber. The cavity looks extremely deep in this bullet.  I have seen either a bullet or photos and vaguely recall discussing a bullet that resembles this one but I can't remember when and where.
