7" Brooke shell with sabot - ebay auction
« on: November 18, 2011, 09:37:57 AM »
Is this being sold by anyone on this Forum?

How hard would it be to reattach the sabot with a modern bolt?

Scott,
Show a photo of the bolt head and any machine shop can make one to match.

all 4 of the 7" shells I posted pics of came from that seller. numerous emails and even a phone call. seems nice and honest. Not a dealer, just a collector downsizing. even detached its a nice looking shell. I paid more for my long brooke bolt with sabot, but 1/3 that for my shell without, gourse the sabot and condition play a large part. Thats not a real common 100lb parrot he has, rivit base

BTW anyone have 1/2 to a full sabot for a 7" brooke shell for sale?
yes I will post this in wanted too;)

The seller of those shells is not a member of this forum.

Jack Bell had a 7" Brooke sabot for sale today at the Richmond Civil War Show.

For me, this is one of those shells best displayed without the sabot attached, in order to understand the engineering. I feel the same way about the Hotchkiss and the James - the interestings parts are hidden by the sabot.

He was asking $400 which is a good price except it was kindof wavy.  I was told Wayne Williams bought it after I left.  If I were you, I'd get the fractional one Pete has.
