that is great, it sure sounds like fun to me!

I'm wondering about the "3,000-pound Dahlgren rifled cannon" which the news-report headline (and article text) says has been found. I'm not very familiar with civil war Navy cannons. Can anybody here tell us what caliber of Dahlgren Rifle matches up with that weight?
Theoretically, the site should contain Confederate-made projectiles for that Dahlgren Rifle... especially since the news-report says two such cannons have now been found at the CSS Georgia site. I'd sure like to get a close look at those projectiles.
Regards,
Pete
