Does anyone know the stamp marking for George H. Fox & Co. of Boston that are said to be found on some Schenkl fuzes?  John

 John, I have no idea what stamped Schenkl's you are asking about.........I have never heard of this.

 Either the percussion or the combination fuse was mentioned.
"History of the 44th Mass Vol. Regiment.
Some of Company D’s men found on the Schenkl fuse-plug of some shells picked up in the lines the mark of Messrs. George D. Fox & Co. of Boston: perhaps they came to Mr. Hill in care of Maj-Gen John D. Pope the summer before."

that happened in campaigns around Little Washington, NC. in 1863

the rebs probably got some captured Schenkl to shoot back at the Union troops.  so does anyone know what this manufacturer's mark looks like?

"American Arms Co., Boston"  George H. Fox was the owner.
