unknown bullets
« on: July 04, 2011, 07:58:55 PM »
I have come across this strange looking bullet. It measures at .31 by .625 and is very blunt on both ends. It has the appearance of a post war bullet but I can't place it anywhere. Someone out there should be familiar or have some type of information. Any thoughts, ideas or information will be greatly appreciated.

I have seen these before and always thought they were post war, but Jim probably will have a more thorough answer when he logs into his computer tomorrow.

I waited an extra day just to throw emike off..... :-*

I definately believe it to be post-Civil War.  It has that 1880s look to it.  I haven't found the specific round in any references yet, but will keep looking.

Mike and Jim, thanks for the info. I believe bullets very similiar to this one have been posted on the old forum years ago. I recall seeing pics of a similar bullet but do not recall if the caliber was in this range. Everyone get out your bullet reference books and start looking. I also believe it to be a post war with the shape.
