Bullets in wood
« on: June 26, 2011, 09:41:01 PM »
I have these three driftwood looking pieces.  Hotchkiss shell is for scale.

If you squint hard, you can see a three ringer poking out in the middle one inside the red circle, but the other two have a bullet in them too.  All are from the same area near Fort Blakely.

I have been told to get them X-rayed and carve down to expose the bullets in the top and bottom one.  That doesn't do a lot for me.  I was thinking of having them incorporated into some sort of furniture or something.

Suggestions?

When do you have time and where in the heck do you spend all this time picking up these odds and ends. Go from a tube to a pyramid to driftwood to long arms and on and on and on. Don't know how you do it but you come up with quite an assortment. I feel like you do, if I were to x-ray the pieces it would only be to identify the location of the bullets. I wouldn't do any cutting or whittling on the wood either. Well it is the end of a week so guess we will wait until next Saturday to see what you pull out of your hat of tricks. ;D
