Help with Bullet ID's
« on: August 12, 2015, 11:20:27 PM »
I took a gamble on a few bullets this past weekend since they looked odd and I really do not know what I got here.

First one is a three ringer with really wide spacing between rings. Conical cavity ( doesn't look conical in the pic but it is), fairly deep, somewhat thin walls.
H - 1.064 in
D - .591 in
W - 511 gn

Second one is a pistol bullet
H - .669 in
D - .459 in
W - 235 gn

Was told they were found in Georgia but anything is possible. They kinda look foreign to me IMO.

Any ideas?

They have a nice, and deceptive, patina.  However I believe these are not CW period.  The first is a Lyman mould bullet still used by shooters.  I cannot identify the second, but its diameter makes me think it is for a post-war .45 cal. weapon.

Think your correct Jim.
I searched lyman bullet molds and found that pistol bullet/mold listed as a .45

I'm sure the other is out there as well.

Oh well, I knew something looked off to me. Got them at some antique trap off 81 somewhere, no big loss.
