picked up (purchased-extremely cheap) a relic condition, probably VERY early battlefield pick up/barn find, Sharps carbine. missing the lever and trigger. trigger was broken off, part still remains. wood stock still present, wooden forearm 40% present. I got it home and lo and behold it has a name, faintly inscribed on the stock 1st line "S. Stone" 2nd line " co. B 17th Pa."
Stanley Stone enlisted into Company B of the 17th Pennsylvania Cavalry and remained there untill his capture in December of 1864, He had been promoted to corporal in November 1864. I will try to add a few pictures later.
