Title: 2 more recent pick ups
Post by: emike123 on May 16, 2017, 10:28:09 AM
Here are a couple you don't see very often -- 4" Hotchkiss shells.  The black one has the 14 second combination fuse missing part of the percussion element, the other a long Hotchkiss percussion fuse.

Interesting that the numbers appear to be cast in the iron. alot more detailed casting. I see no way to tell if the fuse is set at 3 or 12 seconds as both sides seem the same, how can you tell?

The numbers 1 through 14 are cast in the soft metal of the fuse.

big diameter fuse, looked like part of the iron. so how was the time set?  looks like it was turned with a spanner to set the seconds but see no indicating marks. or was it punched like a boreman?  excuse my ignorance, I don't know fuses . inquiring mind wants to know ;)
