In my opinion that is just to easy to conterfeit. There are alot of people that will do thier best to part you from your money, trust me I know. This one just seems to much to the not so sure side.
If it is real I would not like having that in my home, just too much like a wrong thing to have considering how many Southern's died there.

That was my opinion about it being fake also. If real i wouldnt mind having something like that in my house. I love having anything with a connection to a historical event or historical place.

The seller has some more of these up. I'm 99.9% sure these are legit as I really did some homework on this one. As seen here http://www.chemungriverfriends.org/pdf/assessment_masterplan.pdf (on actual, not adobe, page 15) There were, in fact, 4 houses built (in a row) in 1866 on the 600 block of West Gray St. in Elmira, NY with wood from the Confederate Officers Quarters of Elmira Prison. This seller includes a page (with citations) showing info for this house, you can see 3/4 (but not the relevent) part of this page in his current listing. The seller is, in fact, the man named on this page as owner, as confirmed by paypal reciept. I looked a little deeper too and here http://chemung.sdgnys.com/report.aspx?file=&swiscode=070400&printkey=09900600010260000000&sitetype=res&siteNum=1 is the Chemung County, NY property records for this house. Confirmed as built in 1866 and owner (at one time) confirmed as the seller of these pieces of wood. I know this thread is old but I figured Id post what Ive learned in case anyone else was interested in these. Everything matches up.
