I found a couple photos of weekend trips from mid 70s. Bud Richards, John Lucky and myself would usually find about this amount. The small stuff is from Port Gibson Mississippi, not a friendly town at the time. The big stuff is from Grand Gulf Mississippi. It was nice to be young enough to dig these deep holes.

Great memories for you I'm sure.  Great times when you get to lug relics like that out of the woods.

DO you remember what the big shell up on the curb in the 2nd picture is?  Looks like a big Parrott flat top bolt?

My notes read, 6.4  Parrott bolt found at Grand Gulf. 13 inch tall, similar to TD Heavy Artillery page 170 but different sabot. Rare
Fired from USS Lafayette.
