Here's a large artillery fragment that was found at the battle of Chickasaw Bayou north of Vicksburg, MS. It was at the site of a naval bombardment. This elongated fragment has 1.5'' thick walls and has sabot flanges around the base that was made with the shell. The flanges are 1.75'' in width. I also have a photo of a 6 pounder from my collection alongside the fragment to give it a size comparison. Any help is appreciated. I'm trying to determine the type of shell this was.
