Hello,
I have been holding on to these for the past 30+ years after having dug them in the Carolinas or Georgia during a scouting trip. I am at the point where I would like to create a display with placards for each of my finds identifying the type of round, caliber and whether it is Union or Confederate.
After trying to research this myself, I realized how daunting the task is for a novice and given all the different types and quantities of ammunition that was produced by the various countries involved.
I built the following spreadsheet. I would like to add columns to the spreadsheet for my own knowledge of the "Base" and "Cavity" types and whatever else might be important to classifying the bullets. Any suggestions here would be appreciated.
There are 22 items I would like to post. I will identify them by "Item #" in the spreadsheet. I have included appropriate dimensions and weight. If anyone can tell me the type of round, caliber and whether it is Union or Confederate it would be greatly appreciated. If you can educate me on the "Base" and "Cavity" types, it will help me understand what I am looking at in the future.
Also, can you suggest whether the items have been fired or dropped.
Thank you!
