Wow!  Then I am fortunate to have one albeit whittled lightly.

I know of nine (9) Hawgs excavated by myself and some relic hunting friends of mine at two different locations in south Louisiana over the years.  A lot of different relic hunters have hunted one of these spots from the 1970's to recent so possibly a few more may have been dug there over that length of time.  Only in the last few years and thanks to emike was I made aware that I had the Hawgs and relayed that information to my relic hunting freinds.  All I know is that I'm very fortunate and thrilled to have dug the few specimens I have.

May be a dumb question and it may be in one of the books that I don't have but I was wondering how they got the name of "Arkansas Hawg"?  Was Meigs trying to hawg them all?   ;D

The Arkansas Razorbacks football team are called the "Hawgs". Meigs probably had this in mind when he named them as it was much more palatable than calling them "tiggers". Keep that in mind, R.J. This is our year!

Well, I guess that should have been pretty obvious to me had I been paying any kind of attention.  Thanks for the info.

As a UGA graduate, I appreciate your stylized spelling!  Go Dawgs and Hawgs!
Best,
Carl

If those Rebels (yeah I am an Ole Miss grad) would improve their aim (as well as recruiting), then we might shoot us a Hawg, Dawg, an ugly purple/gold Tigger, Bulldog, Tiger, Gator, Wildcat and Gamecock.  Not sure what the heck an Aggie is now they are in the mix.

Bill, glad you threw the Aggies in there with the bunch.

I am gonna start posting some of the pics and stuff tomorrow but before then Ian asked about the Hawg. Well how many Baby Hawgs (I guess we can call them piglets) are out there. I have one in my collection and it came out of the Red River Campaign.

Forgot to mention the name/term Aggie refers to the land grant universities with an emphasis placed on Agriculture.

Michael, really looking forward to the photos!

Bill, you're right, quite a menagerie among some of the SEC schools!

Hey R.J.
I hear that Les Miles has put together a group of athletes that can do anything with a football except autograph it.

Here kitty, kitty, kitty......

Sorry guys, one more off topic of the original thread and I'll stop.

We don't need no stinkin' autographs!!

Skip, how about a little wager on the game, if the Tigers win you give me your primo Arkansan Hawg bullet, if the Hogs win emike will give you his Arkansas Hawg bullet! Sounds like a fair wager to me! :)
