Yes we did discss it briefly and without detail as to how Archer took the '
Burton design and made it his own.

Not sure the evidence is there to support Archer taking it for his own, but perhaps you know of some.  It appears they had a joint venture.  The naming of the projectile as simply an Archer may not be due to anything Archer did.  As Carl noted in the previous thread and was mentioned in the book, there were no profits from this dud so no motive to abscond with the credit!

I haven't read the entire book, too much for my eyes, so I really don't know all the details of Archer and Burton's transactions.
Still waiting for someone to give us an account of the shell from the "Seige of Richmond".
