Description:The Confederates had problems with the Bormann fuses and issued orders to stop using them altogether in late 1862. Some were sent back to the arsenals and reworked by drilling out the center to accommodate a paper time fuse. Examples can be seen in Chuck Jones' fuse book on page 27.

This fuse comes with the proper underplug. The drilled out ones have punchmarks around the face. I suppose this was to seat the underplug prior to drilling through it.
